I Passed With Ellison's Driving School

Ellison's Driving School has got to be one of the best driving schools in Exeter. I was so nervous for my first driving lesson but my driving instructor was so calm and has a way of calming you and making you feel like a confident driver. She was so patient and no matter how many times i got things wrong! She never shouted at me, but instead, talked me through anything i messed up. I'm going to miss my weekly driving lesson so much - Choosing Ellison's Driving School in Exeter was the best decision i could have ever made.

The Theory & Driving Test

AM I READY FOR MY DRIVING TEST?

So, you want to take your driving test. The big question is "are you ready to pass"? No doubt that the driving test can be pretty scarey and nerve racking for some people and we've all heard horror stories about Driving Examiners. However, with Ellison's School of Motoring we will ensure that you know exactly what is required and will let you know when we think you're ready to take your driving test.

SHOW ME TELL ME SAMPLE QUESTIONS

Press the centre of the steering wheel (the horn) and you should hear that it works.
Tell the examiner you would start the car, drive forward slowly and try the foot brake. It should stop the car and the pedal should feel firm and not spongy.
Turn the hazard warning lights on, get out and check from the pavement that the front indicators are working and the back ones (both sides).

  • the theory test
    The Theory Test
You must have a provisional license to book and take your theory test. There are two parts to the test, a multiple choice section and a hazard awareness section.
  • hazard perception test
    The Hazard Perception Test
The hazard perception test consists of 14 video clips. Each clip will contain one developing hazard. One of the clips will have two developing hazards.
  • the driving test
    The Driving Test
To pass the driving test you've got to show that you can drive safely in different road and traffic conditions, also show that you know the Highway Code in practise.
  • theory
    The Theory Test
Before you can take or even apply for your driving test, all provisional license holders need to take and pass the Theory and Hazard Perception test. You can take your theory test from the day of your 17th Birthday. You must pass both parts to pass.

The first test is the theory test which is all multiple choice, and the second part is the hazard perception test where you will see 14 video clips with each clip containing a hazard (one clip has two hazards).

You must click on the screen when you think you see the hazard developing. Please watch both videos to find out more about your theory test. We will also guide you and give you all the advice you need for the tests.

  • hazard
    The Hazard Perception Test
Before you take the hazard perception test, you will be shown a short video about how it works. You will then be played 14 video clips. The clips feature everyday road scenes and in each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, one of the clips contain two developing hazards. Your job is to click on the screen when you think you see a hazard developing.

A hazard is something that would involve you take action, like changing speed or direction. As an example, A car is parked at the side of the road and isn’t doing anything. It wouldn’t cause you to take action, so it’s not a developing hazard. When you get closer, the car’s right-hand indicator starts to flash and it starts to move away. You’d need to slow down, so it’s now a developing hazard.
